Well what can I say?? Im a friend of Debbie and have known her for 7 years since we met at French classes in Mayenne. I am so unbelievably sad and frustrated at her untimely passing. There are so many positive words to describe her personality and my experience of having known her. Debs was a truly genuine, loyal and supportive friend who really did care passionately for all animals and for the well being of her friends and family taking lots of trouble to entertain and get to know our 2 boys. She had a great spirit of adventure, of making do, adapting to difficult and different situations and I suspect there was no holding her back when she was younger!! She had a wicked sense of humour and worked hard to see the bright side of life even when the chips were down. She wasnt perfect any more than any of us ever are but "after all" she would always admit " Im a Scorpio with a sting in my tail!!" There are so many events that remind me of Debbie, many concerning her animals and mine too for that matter as she cared for my 2 cats when we returned to the UK. She and Pete rescued 27 guinea pigs from a lady who was breeding them to sell to the Reptilarium..it was the middle of winter and their living conditions were not good. The cavy story goes on from there as readers of the Guinea Pig Digest will agree. Debs had high moral values which informed all her actions and touched everyone who was fortunate enough to meet her. She was such a raconteur and I loved to hear her descriptions of daily life and doings in France which she kept up till very near her passing on. We were lucky to be able to share in Debbie and Petes most special wedding day recently. Pete was so proud of his lovely bride. I started by talking about my emotions at losing my lovely friend but I have not mentioned how relieved I am that she is not suffering pain any more. She passed away peacefully with her family and animals at home where she so truly wanted to be. It has been a privilege to have known Debbie and her spirit will live on in my memories and heart always. Jane Caygillxxxx
