Debbie & I met when we were working at SAGEM, the mobile phone factory at Fougères, in 2004. I only realised she was English like me when we were briefly working on the same production line. On my last day we sat chatting in the locker room like two old friends, conscious that we wouldn't see eachother again for a while. We were so engrossed that we forgot it was Saturday and the factory closd at midday. When we tried to leave by the outside door it was locked and we panicked, thinking we'd be locked in for the weekend. Fortunately we managed to escape by another door and continued chatting in the carpark! After that it was always a pleasure to meet up from time to time, to meet Pete or walk the dogs. Otherwise we chatted by email and supported eachother throughout our illnesses. Debbie's smiling face meets me each morning from my favourite photo of her, and she's always in my heart.
